Help a priest, sister, teacher or staff member attend the LFS Gala by sponsoring them to join the Krewe of Little Rascals Parade. FUN FACTS ABOUT THE REAL KREWE OF LITTLE RASCALS: Founded in 1983, the Krewe of Little Rascals is America's longest-running Mardi Gras krewe for children. Named after the famous group of kids from TV and film, the krewe patterns itself after adult Carnival clubs in the city with a pre-Mardi-Gras ball and parade. The Krewe was the vision of a couple who believed that the Carnival spirit of the old New Orleans should live and breathe through our youth, as well as through our adults. The first year, Little Rascals rolled with 90 members on three floats, including twenty kids from the New Orleans Adolescent Hospital. Today, the krewe averages more than two hundred members with between 14 and 20 floats, including a specially designed float for handicapped riders. The organization promotes leadership, self-esteem and fellowship among pint-sized participants from age two to nineteen. The krewe has been featured internationally on Japanese television as well as in National Geographic.
